Calling Someone Uncle is My Favorite Korean Prank

My favorite prank videos come out of Korea. A young man or woman asks someone in a group of other young people to help them in some way. After the task is complete they thank them, adding "auntie", "auntie", or "uncle".

From what I gather it's similar to "ma'am" or "sir" here in the U.S. A sign of respect and acknowledgement of stranger that is older.

I remember the first time I was called sir. I was buying some Taco Bell, and the cashier, he said something along the lines of "Here you go, sir." I was taken aback. It honestly shocked me. I was in my late twenties then and felt the rapid collapse of my youth in a way I'd not experienced up to that point.

I know it's absurd, but that's how I felt. And that's what makes this prank so funny.

The looks on people's faces! Grasping at their chest, frozen in place, pure shock, bursts of annoyance. It's all there, and it's all in good fun. No one is going to be sitting around thinking their day is ruined. Maybe some will go out and by some retinol serum but mostly no harm, no foul here.

Better than the reaction of the auntie or uncle is the reactions of their friends. The sheer joy these people have at their friend begin called auntie is only matched by the relief they show that it wasn't them!

I tend to watch Run and Run for my Korean pranks. There are other channels out there, but I found Run and Run pretty early and stuck with it.

I also recommend their drawing strangers prank. That starts around 5:15 in the 2024 Best Prank video.
