I miss the smell of a burned CD (they didn't smell) 💿
This made me feel some heavy, sad nostalgia.
I remember burning so many CDs. I was in a punk band in high school and college in the late 90s/early 2000s. We just recorded everything we could on a four track and burn copies. My friend would cut out album sleeves from card stock. We'd pass them around or sale them at record shops on commission.
I don't think we ever sold any.
Even before that I made mix tapes of my favorite songs or just my favorite one song at the time. I remember burning Particle Man by They Might Be Giants onto a CD. My brother and I then challenged ourselves to listen to it on a loop for three hours as we drove home from college one weekend.
I never learned the exact words of that song.
I've seen some reviews of CD players on Youtube recently. I think there's always an interest in physical media. We live in a post-trend world where there are pockets just always going. But still, it's cool to see them, and I wonder if there are people out there that still burn CDs. I've not actually heard of anyone doing it, but I love the idea.
I don't know who would want a homemade CDs but that doesn't stop me from loving the idea.
