Luigi was always my favorite

Luigi was always my favorite

I was an older brother, yet, I always found myself drawn to Luigi, the younger of the Mario Brothers.

His disinterest in the spotlight, bravery in overcoming fears, quick action, and loyalty resonated with me. Also, green has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember.

Mario was there to save the Mushroom Kingdom, but he also had his Princess at the end of the day. That's what his heroism was about. Not until years later, was Luigi connected to Daisy. Before that he had nothing.

Luigi was for the people.

On top of that was his fear of ghosts, danger, action. Yet, despite it all, he persevered. He did what needed to be done. To Mario it was nothing to fight his was to Bowser. For Luigi, it was everything.

Luigi is a reminder that bravery isn't the absence of fear, it is the overcoming of it.

I have been happy to see Luigi get his love through his own series, his own year, and joining brother Mario on adventures. Still there can be more. Though, on second thought, perhaps this is enough for Luigi. He's never sought fame nor adventure.

He doesn't need more air time to be remembered in our hearts and minds for the things he's done.

Luigi will live on forever.
