Miniatures, puppets, and special effects is your new hyperfocus

I have a fondness for Gerry and Sylvia Anderson shows. My first introduction was Thunderbirds. The weird marionettes and detailed props were fascinating to me. I had never seen anything like.

As I got older, they faded into the past. I had nearly forgotten about it by the time Team America came out. A homage and send-up to to the Supermarionation utilized by The Andersons and their team.

After that, I would occasionally browse the internet for some clips and information. Then stream it when Shout Factory! uploaded their catalogs. Through them I discovered new shows like Supercar and Joe 90.

This week Youtube served up Century 21 Films. The company has taken up the torch of Supermarionation and is sharing a lot of information on the subject via their channel.

I've already plowed through a couple episodes. The detail to work, the pace of production, the material used, and the creativity is amazing. It's really inspiring to see what a small independent studio outside of Hollywood could do.

I recommend for anyone interested in film, dioramas, miniatures, special effects, or tv history. Seriously, this is a gold mine!
